North
Cap Malheureux
Cap Malheureux is the northernmost point of the island, known for the red-roofed chapel of Notre-Dame Auxiliatrice with the northern islands on the horizon behind it.
Best time to shoot here
The chapel photographs best in the softer light of late afternoon. The offshore islands — Coin de Mire in particular — give the horizon a structure most Mauritian beaches lack.
Getting there and access
The chapel is an active place of worship — sessions are scheduled around services and conducted with appropriate discretion. Parking is available nearby.
