Belle Mare
Belle Mare is the long white beach of the east coast, backed by casuarinas and fronted by a wide, shallow lagoon. It faces east, which makes it the island's premier sunrise location.
Best time to shoot here
Sunrise sessions here are exceptional and almost private. Evening light is soft and indirect rather than golden, which suits family groups and portraits that do not want strong backlight.
Getting there and access
Public access points are frequent along the coastal road with informal parking. The east coast is around an hour from the airport and ninety minutes from Grand Baie.
